Who’s the famous DJ remixing the run club scene?

No matter what kind of running vibe you’re chasing nowadays, there’s probably a run club that fits. Sure, weekend meetups with friends or early morning 400-metre reps on the local track will always have their charm—but some newer clubs are completely remixing the norm and redefining what it means to run together, as with Grammy Award-winning artist Diplo’s latest venture.
In 2024, Diplo launched Diplo’s Run Club—a travelling 5K series that fuses music, movement and community. What began as an experimental blend of fitness and festival energy has quickly evolved into one of the most talked-about running events. And now, it’s expanding to six more North American cities, thanks to a new partnership with Altra Running.
“I’m excited to welcome Altra to join me on the Diplo’s Run Club tour,” Diplo said on Instagram. “It’s great to have a brand so well-regarded in running. Their shoes are cool. Bringing people together to run and celebrate is all I ever want to do. I’m stoked to kick off our first event in Philly.”
What makes this club unique is that it’s not just a 5K—it’s a full-blown celebration. Each event ends with a post-run party headlined by Diplo himself, who leads the run before hopping behind the DJ decks. Think: long run meets music festival.
The 2025 tour kicked off on July 26 in Philadelphia, with future stops planned for Los Angeles, New York, San Diego, Miami and Phoenix, along with returns to San Francisco and Seattle—where the idea first took off. There are no Canadian stops on the tour yet, but we’re putting in a word for Toronto or Vancouver in 2026.

Altra plans to enhance the experience further with on-site trials of the Experience Flow, Form and Wild models, plus interactive activations. “Diplo’s Run Club is bringing thousands of new faces into the sport—and not in a stuffy, traditional way,” said Rachel Winkel, global marketing director at Altra. “That’s exactly the kind of culture shift we want to be part of.”
Diplo, also known as Thomas Pentz, says he came up with the idea after running the Miami Half-Marathon and realizing the post-race scene was missing one thing: a celebration. Now, Diplo’s Run Club is giving runners exactly that.
